Bass Pro Shop finally coming to Tampa?

Tampa Bass Pro Shops

Most of us have read all the speculation and talk about a Bass Pro potentially coming to Tampa. The location adjacent from the new Racetrack off of Falkenburg and Causeway has been the prized vicinity that the new build is to take place. I honestly could see that being a great location. What has been the holdup, you may ask? The developer and property owner David Verardo could not come to terms with a leasing agreement once the establishment is constructed.

Hillsborough County is offering strong incentives for the Bass Pro to build here, and it seems that Bass Pro wants to come to Tampa. New negotiations have begun, this time Bass Pro intends to purchase the land outright, so there is no lease agreement required. Merrill, who was initially skeptical of giving such a huge incentive package to a retailer, has now switched tunes after seeing how a Bass Pro Shop could boost the local economy. Not only would a new Pro shop add 400 plus jobs, but it will also generate an estimated $2 million in annual property taxes and $14.8 million a year in sales tax. The only downside to the build is the effects that it will have on the local mom and pop shops, such as Southeastern, TA Mahoney’s, etc.… It could prove to be detrimental to the point of forcing their doors shut. What is your take on the situation? Do you want a Bass Pro?

Bass Pro Shop Tampa Update 01/13/2020

I can't believe six years have passed so quickly, I figured I would take the time to update my readers. The Tampa Bass Pro was built and the rumors were true. You can now actively shop and eat at the new but beautiful establishment located right off of I75 in Brandon/Tampa. Like most Bass Pro Shops, there is a large selection of both freshwater and saltwater equipment and gear. They also have a vast array of guns and hunting gear to cater to all of the woodsmen.

I love taking my girls to see paintings, mounts and their favorite the large aquarium that houses both freshwater and saltwater fish. We may even start working on getting Salty Scales in surrounding Bass Pro Shops. Lets us know if you all would enjoy seeing that below. Here is a recent adventure to Bass Pro to purchase a reel, they didn't have the one I wanted but we had a good time as usual:

I think it would be good business decision to open a Bass Pro in brandon but how much business would the bass pro shop lose in orlando that mall is almost shut down already. Lots of people around the area probally goes there but on the other hand look at the population in this area. I would lovwe them to open it I would have to say I would be up ther every weekend almost it being 5 min away instead of a hour half

I would absolutely love it!! My office is literally one minute from that location!! The actual location is not the vacant land adjacent from the Racetrack gas station. The proposed location is the woods just North of the the Crosstown expressway.
